How to Stop Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

The Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service enables you to share your Windows Media Player playlists and library with other devices in your network. Windows users may use the service to setup a network by which one computer acts as a file and video server. When you have no use with this feature, you need to disable the service to improve your system's security and lower its resource usage.

Click "Start" and type "services. msc" in the search bar. Press "Enter. " Scroll right down to "WMPNetworkSvc. " Double-click it. Click on the pull-down "Startup type" dialog box and choose "Disabled. " Click "Stop" if the service status is "Started. " This can turn the service off instantly. Click "Apply, " then "OK. ".
